A blog I was reading a few days ago cited a portion of a lecture C.S. Lewis gave to his students at Oxford during the dark and dismal days of World War II. In this excerpted quote, when Lewis mentioned the word “war,” I have taken the liberty to suggest, in brackets, the substitution of “the coronavirus.” The war [the coronavirus] creates no absolutely new situation, it simply aggravates the permanent human situation so that we can no longer ignore it.
