What does the Afterlife look like for Unbelievers? – Greg Albrecht

Question: I’ve been reading your site for a few days. I have read your beliefs that God does not punish anyone or turn away from them beyond letting them experience the natural consequences of their actions. In particular, you use the term “hell” to describe depravity and awful environments that humans cause on this earth by turning away from God. You reject the concept of hell as an afterlife of eternal torment for those who did not accept Jesus’ work before their death, and you assert that these unbelievers experience an “afterlife” in which they see God more clearly and still have the opportunity to turn and be welcomed into ...

One God

There are many gods that compete for our attention and our allegiance, but only one true God. He is one, yet Father, Son and Holy Spirit. By his grace you can know him, be united and connected with him, and have a personal relationship with him.

Listening to God

Listening to God involves trust and faith. It is far more than dictating our wants and desires. Prayer is more than us talking to God — it is talking with God — asking Him to change us and tell us what He wants us to do.

Two Brothers

Whether it’s the two brothers of Luke 15 or the two brothers of A River Runs Through It “Two Brothers” will help you consider God’s infinite love, and the special relationship he offers to you.

The Lost and the Found

The gospel often turns our expectations upside down — so that those who think they are religious found — who think they have it made — may actually be lost. And those who think that God has given up on them — there just might be hope.

God Or Country?

Which kingdom truly encourages and enables us to love our neighbors as ourselves — kingdoms of our world or the kingdom of heaven?

Always Obey Governing Authorities?

Since Christ-followers hold dual citizenship, what happens when civil authorities seem to cross the line, imposing or demanding un-Christ like action?

Q&R with Greg Albrecht – “The End Times” – Is Jesus coming back?

Question: My question is about what many call “the end times.” They (many preachers, teachers and churches) say that the upheaval, suffering, disease and warfare in our world is a sign that the Second Coming of Jesus is near. They say his coming is closer than it ever has been.  It seems to me that whether all of this means his Second Coming is near, either way, Jesus will return. What do you think? Response: Of course, it is not breaking news to say that Jesus’ Second Coming is closer than it ever has been before.  I appreciate that many say such a thing in a sensational way, but of course what they say is not a breatht...

God-Given Freedom – by Greg Albrecht

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.  Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only ...

Whose Side Is God On?

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?" "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"— Joshua 5:13-14 Have you ever noticed how many individual Christians and incorporated religious institutions assume that God is exclusively on their side? Many seem to think that God is a member-in-good-standing of their denomination. Many seem to ...

Can We Lose Our Salvation?

Q: Do you believe we can lose our salvation once we are truly saved? My personal belief is that, yes, we can. While God will never take it away, through constant and willful sinning, we can turn our eyes away from God. This will eventually lead to a case of "Pharaoh's hardened heart," a state whereby we can reject God's offer, and create a wall between ourselves and God that even God will not cross—for to do so would be to break his promise to us of free will. A: No, I do not believe we can lose our salvation. Before explaining why, let me say that this discussion, in my view, is not a "make or break" theological perspective. Christians ...

Grace on Trial

Greg Albrecht: I'm talking with a good friend, Steve McVey of Grace Walk Ministries. Steve is the president of Grace Walk Ministries. Steve, I've got to tell you that I wish there were more people in this world who are proclaiming radical grace. Steve: When we talk about grace we're talking about Jesus, and I think folks need to have that firmly in their minds, that grace personified is Jesus Christ. So to those who say, well, that's great to talk about grace but there are other things too, I say, well, what else is there? The grace of Jesus Christ is the gospel. Radical grace—I like that. For those who may not know, let's remind them the ...

Kingdoms and Empires Come and Go – by Greg Albrecht

Friend and Partner Letter from July 2022 America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great—attributed to “Democracy in America” (published in 1835) by French diplomat/historian Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859). For Canadians and Americans, this month of July brings our national histories into focus: July 1 is Canada Day, a celebration of Canadian confederation in 1867. July 4 is memorialized in the United States as the birth of American independence in 1776. As citizens and Christ-followers, we honor and respect the country in which we live. But we do not worship our country or ...

A Different Gospel

Are you hearing the “real thing”? There’s only one gospel of Jesus Christ. All other gospels are pretenders and imposters. As Paul says, “a different gospel … is really no gospel at all” (Galatians 1:6-7).

Hijacking Christianity

Religious legalism may seem to have the same external signs as authentic Christianity, but it’s going a different direction. A hijacked plane still has all of the external signage outside that identifies it as an airline with a commendable mission — but internally, a different mission is being planned. There is more to real Christianity than meets the eye.

Why are Christians so Divided and Polarized? by Greg Albrecht

QUESTION: Why does it seem so many people (including and especially Christians) are divided and polarized? RESPONSE: Most churches and ministries publish a statement of beliefs – you can find ours under “About” on our home page (www.ptm.org) under the heading “We Believe.” Our statement is short, deliberately, because we believe the focus of our faith and our ministry is Jesus Christ alone, and that there are many non-essential issues (about which we believe people of faith may differ). But when an issue is made of peripheral non-essentials, those topics can end up being exalted beyond and even instead of Jesus Christ. In ...

Prayer — Experiencing God

Christendom is filled with talk of “prayers that work.” But what about prayers that don’t “work”? Is there more to prayer than convincing God to give you what you want?
