You Are Loved!

While we may often think of biblical examples where the picture of a human father is used to explain God's love, maternal examples used in the Bible are equally important. Join us for Mother's Day as we place the spotlight on God's unconditional love for all humanity.

Extravagant Love

A dinner in Jesus' honor is sandwiched between the death and resurrection of Lazarus and Jesus. With the smell of death in the air, Mary, Lazarus' sister, pours out an extravagant act of love.

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

May 7, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “Did you ever stop to think that Jesus did not start his ‘professional life’ ministering, teaching, comforting and healing – by posting a sign outside of a building announcing healing services and prophecy seminars?  Jesus didn’t wait for people to find him.  Instead, he found people in the midst of their daily problems, dilemmas, challenges and struggles. Much of the time Jesus arrived in people’s lives unannounced and unexpected.  Jesus didn’t expect people to get in their cars or jump on their donkeys so they could travel to a holy piece of real estate where whey would file into ...

The Sheep and the Goats – Greg Albrecht

QUESTION: In studying The Sheep and the Goats in Matthew 25:31-46, when I read about the judgment on the goats in Matthew 25:41-46, aside from their extremely cruel fate (I guess the fact that it's a parable may explain that), I don't see the connection between: 1. their described lack of helping others (the thing directly described and it seems they were being judged for) and 2. them thinking they had achieved their dues, done all the right things, worked hard to please God, etc. I don't see where that second part is implied. I can see where the goats did not have Jesus as the center of their lives because God's grace was not ...

Running With Horses

One of the great travesties and tragedies of modern Christendom is the idea that Christianity means having your best life, in terms of health and wealth, now. When Jeremiah complained about his fiery trials, God told him that he hadn't run with the horses yet.

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

May 4, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “Some people think God must not exist, or if he does, he doesn’t care because he allows disasters and accidents to happen.  But God never told us in the Bible that such things would not happen.  In fact, he said they would, to those who are believers as well as those who are not.”  Originally published in: Between Religious Rocks and Life’s Hard Places ------------------------------------- Help Us Help Others - Give Now

He Touched Me

When Jesus healed a leper he gave a bear hug to someone who was considered untouchable, even by religious priests. Join us as we consider the significance of Jesus' embrace.

Forgiveness – The Rubber Hits the Road!

C.S. Lewis once observed that everyone thinks forgiveness is a good idea until they have someone to forgive. That's when the rubber hits the road.

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

May 2, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “Penal substitution is a legal term, a forensic model of our relationship to and with God.  But the gospel is not about forensic punishment, evening the score or paying our debt.  The gospel is about forgiveness, grace, mercy and love, so that God seeks our love, not his satisfaction.  God in Christ is not worried about the holiness of his name or reputation – they are set aside on the Cross, when Jesus endured and consumed all hatred, evil and sin forever.  How?  Not by a legal mechanism, but through the overflowing love of the Father, whom Jesus came to reveal.” Originally ...

He Must Become Greater, I Must Become Less

Join us as we consider the remarkable, gracious, Christ-centered words of John the Baptist, as he said that Jesus must become greater while his own ministry must lessen.

Reckless Love

Everyone knows that dying on a cross is unsafe, but that's exactly what Jesus did. The cross of Christ is the perfect illustration and demonstration of God's reckless love.

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

April 30, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “Our physical world is filled with death and decay.  The cycle of life ensures aging and obsolescence.  You buy a shiny new car and five years later it looks like it has been through a war.  You move into a new house and you try to maintain it, take care of the plants and the lawn, keep the house painted – but sometimes, in spite of your best efforts, given the time you have, the house seems to start falling apart around you.  You buy a computer, only to find out a few years later that it is obsolete.  Or, you discover that your still ‘new’ computer needs new software – it ...

The Mother Side of God – by Greg Albrecht

Friend and Partner Letter from May 2023 We all have an intimate relationship with mothers – we are sons and daughters of mothers and grandchildren of grandmothers. We are husbands whose wives were/are mothers. We are parents of daughters and even granddaughters some of whom are themselves mothers. Breaking news! Remember, you heard it here first!! It’s obvious, I know, but for the record, let’s remember we all had a mother. Some are blessed to still have a living mother… if you do, take advantage of the time you have with her. Many of you are mothers, may you hear and know that you are cherished and loved by your children. Mothers are ...

Little People

Inside a big, ornate religious building Jesus pointed out one of the little people to his disciples - a defenseless, vulnerable and preyed upon woman who was in religious bondage.

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

April 27, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “Legalistic religion can think of no more stinging rebuke than to call someone failing to measure up to its dictates, dogmas and dictums an antinomian (law breaker).  When I tell people that by the grace of God I am part of the body of Christ, and that church is what I am rather than a brick-and-mortar building I attend, they ask me, in all sincerity, ‘Well, how are you going to be accountable? Who will discipline you when you need it?’ What they really want to know is who is going to give me my religious report card?  They are concerned that if I’m not a member of a religious institu...

Surprised By Grace

The parable of the Sheep and the Goats teaches us that God's grace is shocking because it insists that Jesus is absolutely the center of our lives - far more important than paying our dues and keeping our religious accounts in order.

Jesus – The End of Religion

The gospel of Jesus Christ has already declared Christ-less religion to be as dead and obsolete as the do-do bird. Jesus, on the other hand, is the epitome and personification of God's dynamic, enduring and eternal grace.

Q & R with Greg Albrecht – “Straight and Narrow” – Will only a few be saved?

Question: I have a friend that is obsessed with this idea that few will be saved because of the scripture that says, "Straight and narrow is the road that leads to life and few there be that find it." How would you respond? Response: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" – Matthew 7:13 Several thoughts in response to your question and to your friend’s “obsession.” Salvation is a gift of God. Salvation, throughout the Bible, both in Old and New Testaments, invaria...

Reflections Along the Jesus Way

April 25, 2023 - Quote for the Day: “You may have heard the story about St. Peter giving a tour of heaven.  New arrivals boarded a tour bus with St. Peter as their guide.  Early in their heavenly tour they drove past a gated community, surrounded by ten-foot-high brick walls covered with ivy.  The enclave sported manicured lawns and beautiful hedges and flower gardens leading up to the gate where uniformed personnel ensured no one entered who was not worthy. One new arrival said, ‘Who lives in there?’  St. Peter lowered his voice and in a pious tone said, ‘Please keep your voices down.  The religious folks ...
