Rest In Christ Who Frees Us From Fear – Ken Williams
“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” Jesus
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14:1 (NRSV)
I was twenty years old when I confessed that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior just before I was baptized. I believed in Jesus, and hoped my heart would no longer be troubled. Jesus opened my eyes to see that fear was distracting me from his presence and peace. I identified with a man who confessed he wasn’t afraid of dying but he was afraid of living. It dawned on me I had been manipulated by fear all my life.
It started when I was in my formative years. I was born March 14, 1945, ...
Q&R: “Should we be afraid of the devil?” Brad Jersak
"I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Our Comings and Goings Amidst Vulnerability and Danger by Greg Albrecht
I lift my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you – the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. – Psalm 121:1-8

Fear or Faith
In the midst of the storms we face in our lives we often ask, "Where is God?" And just like the fearful disciples on the stormy sea we ask, "Why is he sleeping?" Join us as we look at the contrasts between fear and faith.

Worries and Fears – by Greg Albrecht
Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained. – Arthur Somers Roche A study conducted about why people worry revealed:
40% of the things people worry about never happen.
30% of the things people worry about already happened.
12% of the things people worry about concern their health.
10% of the topics that people worry about are somewhat trivial.
8% of the worries that people have are legitimate.
One man summed up his philosophy of worry like this:
“I only worry about two things. The two worries I have right now are ...

Out of the Tribulation Closet – by Laura Urista
When our world seems to be spinning out of control, when fear and panic spread like wildfires, we cling desperately to tangible things that give us a sense of security.
At such times, many hoard emergency supplies, attempting to gain control over their own circumstances.
“Out of the Tribulation Closet” by CWRm and Plain Truth managing editor, Laura Urista, offers an encouraging perspective on fear and anxiety. We share this article from our April 2020 CWRm to help readers focus on the eternal security found only in our one True Provider and Healer.

Focus on Christ – Not on Fear – by Greg Albrecht
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself— nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance" (Franklin Delano Roosevelt, first inaugural address, March 4, 1933).
Weltschmerz—a German word meaning world-pain or world-weariness is used to describe mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state. Based on the anxiety and concern contained in reports and letters we receive from those we serve, as well as a general condition of weltschmerz in our society, there is no doubt that fear, worry, stress and tension are wreaking ...
Do Not Be Afraid
The time and culture of Jesus' birth was not unlike the world in which we live today. For that matter, it was just like any generation or era in history. The specific people, land and culture to which Jesus came was a world permeated with fear at almost every level. The Jews were an occupied people. They suffered under grinding poverty and heavy taxation. There was a huge gap between the rich and the poor. Life expectancy, particularly among the poor, is estimated to have been in the mid-30s to early-40s. Fear is a part of what it means to be human. It's a common and normal emotional reaction.
• We have fears that we will live so long that ...

Will You Get Enough Right Answers? Greg Albrecht
Will You Get Enough Right Answers?
My driver’s license is expiring in a few weeks. In the past, my license expired every five years and the state of California automatically renewed it and sent me a new one in the mail. But now, knowing I have passed the exalted age of 70, and apparently completely oblivious of the legal implications of age discrimination, the good people of California have determined that I and other old codgers like me must have my vision and knowledge tested to see if we are worthy of sharing the road with all the careful, cautious and patient younger drivers we encounter every day.
I made an appointment and showed ...

The Accuser (or, “Holiness and Dread”) – Michael Frack
There is an idea currently extremely popular among the spiritual elite of my generation—an idea which is neither spiritual nor elite, but rather unspiritual and elitist. It is the carnal passion for mere dread of a “God” whose lust for physical suffering evokes this emotion of dread as, above all things, the only proper response to the deity’s intense hatred of the human race—or at least, of most of it. Those few whom he has chosen to save, he has only chosen to save because he cannot see them—he has thrown the Blood of Christ over them like a paper bag with holes punched out for breathing, but covering everything else. But if that ...
