The Cruciform Gospel – Brad Jersak – Interview with Corey Jolin and Josh Hawkins

The Cruciform Gospel – Brad Jersak.Interview with Corey Jolin and Josh Hawkins  (Fremont Community Church). Brad: In preparation for a weekend seminar (back in 2019) with Fremont Community Church in Indiana, the pastors ran the following questions by me: St. Thomas style cross - India Question: Discuss the word cruciform. What does the word simply mean? What are you wanting to portray when using it in your book? Brad: Simply put, “cruciform” literally means “cross-shaped.”  When we speak of a “cruciform God” or a “cruciform gospel” or “cruciform love,” we’re reflecting on the meaning of 1 John 3:16 ...

A More Christlike Way – Receives Rave Reviews

Brad Jersak’s, A More Christlike Way, published by CWRpress in early 2019, continues to receive rave reviews!  Your ability to introduce the Jesus Way in the context of our current highly politicized world and highly politicized religions, offers us something important and unique. I was certainly challenged to reevaluate my own position on the left-right political spectrum in view of your important warnings against making my politics into a new religion.I don’t know if you’ll see this but I wanted to say that your book helped me a lot....I finished it about a month ago and it brought some things to light that I have held in for ...

Review of Brad Jersak’s “A More Christlike Way” – by Rob Grayson

I’ve been dabbling in amateur theology for a few years now. One of the main reasons I find theology a worthwhile pursuit – beyond the pure intellectual joy of contemplating and wrestling with some of life’s biggest questions – is that our theology inescapably affects how we inhabit and move through the world. Our actions mostly flow out of our attitudes, which in turn are strongly influenced by what we believe about ultimate reality – which, after all, is what theology is all about. My own theological journey has been one of significant change over the past decade or so. My perspective on key issues like the character of God, the nature of ...

Christian Polytheism – Brad Jersak

This article is an excerpt from A More Christlike Way (CWR press, 2019). It was risky business for early Christians to hold up Christ as the image of the one true God. Their gospel confession demanded a rejection of Rome’s pantheon of pagan gods and the emperors’ demand for worship. And that meant persecution. But at least the choice was straightforward: Jesus is Lord and Jupiter is not. Jesus is Lord and Diana is not. Jesus is Lord and Caesar is not. But today, how are we to navigate the problem of polytheism (the belief in many gods) within Christianity? Let’s say there’s still a militaristic god of war, a patriotic god of ...

Brad Jersak unveiling a better faith in “A More Christlike Way” – Review by Nathan Forster

Before I start this review, I need to make a confession. I arrogantly thought that this book would just re-hash what I thought I already knew. I came to this book thinking “okay, so I know God is perfectly revealed in Jesus, and so yep, that means that is God is love, and so then a faith modelled on love becomes how we embody our faith into the world- simple! And if this is what Brad is going to say (though only in a longer version) then he’ll be confirming what I generally already know”. Needless to say, the Spirit used this book to gently remind me, once again, that true knowing of Love (i.e. God) is not the type ...
