The State of Christianity
What is the world at large thinking about Christianity when it sees the circus antics of some Christian TV, religion posing as the gospel and people playing the "church game"? Authentic Christianity exposes the bad-news imposters freeing us for the good news of Christ.

Liminal Spaces – by Bermie Dizon
My wife and I have a friend who is moving out of their home and relocating to another state. Our friend shared how challenging this process has been, and I can completely relate. Most of us have faced the stress of moving, and dealing with unexpected challenges that feel like curve-balls. Recently, I came across a word that perfectly captures this experience—liminal.
Having come from the Philippines and learning English in school, liminal is a new word for me. Liminal spaces refer to those in-between moments—the threshold between where we've been and where ...

Q&R: If grace is free, why a ‘price’? Brad Jersak
If grace and forgiveness is a free gift from God, why does the Bible use payment language, such as 'ransom,' 'redemption,' 'bought' and 'purchased' to describe the Cross?
Reflections Along the Jesus Way
November 12, 2024 - Quote for the Day:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). No more condemnation means the end of being ashamed of who we are. No more condemnation is possible because we accept and are assured of God’s love. And when we experience his love, our sense of self-loathing and shame is vanquished. No more condemnation means that we are free in Christ – free from self-loathing and shame – free at last, thank God Almighty, free at last. No more condemnation is possible because of the greatest ...
Are You a Spiritual Loner?
Some congregations and even a few denominations think they are the best, or even claim to be the one and only true church. Just how small is the body of Christ? Are you a spiritual loner - part of a small group of people you believe is better than anyone else?

How Much Faith Do You Need?
If you don't have enough faith will God return some of your prayers unanswered, rubber stamped with the message, "Insufficient funds"? When it comes to faith many are confused. You may think you need more faith, but is that true?

Your Highest Moral Mountain – Brad Jersak
Moral Mountains:
Every individual and every tribe or nation lives by a hierarchy of moral standards. These standards can vary dramatically across a population or even within a person, like the peaks in a mountain range. But over time, we tend to see one peak dominate the horizon, reaching upward to a higher elevation than the others. That is not to say the highest peak is always that best. It may only be the most dominant.
In his book, The Second Mountain: the Quest for a Moral Life, Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Brooks says, ...
Reflections Along the Jesus Way
November 9, 2024 - Quote for the Day:
“The Bible is and has been many things to many people. Selections from the Bible have become, over time, what people have made them to be. The Bible has been used and abused – it has been used to condone the practice of slavery, permit polygamy, promote racism, oppress women and justify war. Each and every time the Bible is read and studied, it is being interpreted. Everyone tends to read the Bible through their own lens of experience and culture. Everyone brings their own baggage packed with assumptions and prejud...
Religious Ideas Have Consequences! – Laura Urista
Question:
My sister is in the hospital in ICU. She hasn't taken any of her meds for diabetes or heart issues for 2 years. My sister has neglected her health to the point where she has sepsis, a blood sugar of 580 and is hallucinating at the hospital. Her heart is extremely weak, and they aren't sure she's going to survive this.
She and my niece (her oldest daughter) have become obsessed with end-times videos on YouTube, particularly Rapture Watchers. They are so convinced that the rapture is going to happen that my niece basically doesn't work and her 2 ...
Maybe You Just Need to Try Harder
Religion tells us that we should maybe just try harder, that we should pull ourselves up by your own bootstraps.

The E-Word Reclaimed: A Good Message & a Good Path – Brad Jersak
“Conversion” isn’t about indoctrination or recruitment or colonizing. It’s an invitation to experience God’s love, joy, peace, hope, and freedom—the healing of our hearts as we join Jesus and each other on his Good Path.
Reflections Along the Jesus Way
November 7, 2024 - Quote for the Day:
“The topic and theme of the Book of Revelation is Jesus Christ, not some geo-political, predictive timetable of future world events. The key to the Book of Revelation is its Christology, not its chronology. The guiding interpretive principle to be used in understanding Revelation is ‘who,’ not ‘when.’ Minimize the importance of the when; maximize the importance of the who. Revelation teaches that our human future is not the primary issue, but the future of Revelation is in and with Christ. The future in Revelation ...
Bad News Religion Part 4 of 4
The biggest threat to Christianity isn't apathy, indifference or its own woefully inadequate example - nor is it from Islam, New Age thought or the myriad cults. The greatest challenge to Christianity is religion insidiously thriving under the flag of Christianity.

Election Aftermath – Brad Jersak
Plain Truth Ministries endeavors to center our focus on Jesus at all times. Our Mission Statement says, "We proclaim Christianity without religion. Our Christ-centered ministry is based on faith alone, grace alone, and Christ alone."
That said, we recognize that our gospel also directly engages events in the real world... and this means more than an exercise in journalism. We know that world events can and do affect our readers. It's important that we acknowledge rather than ignore significant events and the feelings that follow.
Some of our readers ...
Bad News Religion Part 3 of 4
Christianity is in a completely different category from other religions. In fact, it is opposed to all religion - including religion appropriating the name of Jesus Christ. Religion is bad news - the polar opposite of the gospel of Jesus Christ - which is by definition, good news.

Rest for the Weary – by Greg Albrecht
I heard a story about an American missionary named David who served in an African town several decades ago. David was amazed to see the heavy loads and burdens the Africans carried on their heads as a part of their regular jobs.
The most astonishing individual he met, in this regard, was a lady who had perfected the technique of carrying heavy loads on her head to such a degree that her peers called her "the human delivery truck." Amazing at it seems to us, she delivered engine blocks from cars and trucks from one repair shop to another. According to the story, four ...
Politics and Religion as Usual – Greg Albrecht
The popularity and following of the outsider threatened the establishment, and the institutions and traditions it held near and dear. The market share of the outsider’s public support was growing.
He came from an obscure and remote place far outside the Jerusalem beltway. He didn’t have tradition and custom behind him like the power brokers in Jerusalem did, but it didn’t seem to make any difference. The people loved this populist outsider.
It almost seemed like the outsider had come from another dimension—no one had mentored him and no big donors or ...
